Hatice is 8 years old and will start her school life soon. She has 5 siblings. This picture shows her life before and after she left Syria, even though she does not remember the how she came to Turkey and settled down.
“While in Syria, my mother was very kind to us and bought everything for us. But in Turkey, my mother started to beat us because our neighbors complained about us all the time and she here never bought us anything we like. So I love Syria more.
I painted Syria in the ruins, because it was in the war. And I painted the house in Turkey, because I live here now.”

“在叙利亚，妈妈对我们非常好，什么都给我们买。但到了土耳其，妈妈开始打我们，因为邻居总是在抱怨他们，妈妈什么都不给买。所以我更爱叙利亚。
我画了战争中的叙利亚，那里正在发生战火，我也画了土耳其的房子，因为我现在住在这儿。”
